Putting the food back into communities
and community back into food
Our mission
At Food 4 Thought, we believe that food = community. Historically, humans have planted, harvested, prepared, and consumed food together. Food isn’t just sustenance, it represents culture, tradition, history, shared identity, and even religion. Cultural and religious holidays like Thanksgiving, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Passover, and many more, all rely on food as a means of uniting people across time, distance, and difference.
Unfortunately, today, most of us are lucky if we get to eat with our families each night. In our busy, 21st century lives, we grocery shop alone, grab lunch on the go, and are more disconnected from food—and each other—than ever. That is why Food 4 Thought, first and foremost, is creating change by putting the community back into food.
We target areas identified as food deserts or under-resourced, and implement programming designed to foster collaboration, togetherness, and impact. We create, educate, and resource communities, in order to provide access to food that is healthy in all ways. We believe that if we take care of ourselves, our neighbors, and our environment, the whole world will flourish.
